17 Dec DON’T PANIC, IT’S TEMPORARY.

My mom and I decided to explore and try all the makeup artists we could find because we were in the search for talent. Makeup really was and still is our favorite past time together.

In one of those searches back in 2011, we found Ines Lobregat. It was then when she told me I had really dry skin. It was so dry that the makeup had a hard time sticking on it. Tbh, I was 18 back then and had no care in the world about skin care. I didn’t even use moisturizer! All I had in my bathroom at the time was coconut oil that I would slather on my body from time to time if I didn’t forget. I really was a mess.

In a panic, I grabbed that coconut oil and put some on my face every morning and every night since Ines told me about it. I don’t think you could go wrong with coconut oil. It’s a really good moisturizer because it’s one of the oils that penetrates into the skin so it doesn’t leave you looking greasy.

When I moved to San Francisco shortly after, I needed something more powerful in terms of keeping my skin hydrated during the cold winter. That’s when I found the cult favorite, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($46). It won’t change your skin overnight but it will restore your skin from dry to that natural healthy glow. It’s called midnight recovery because it’s specifically designed to best absorb the serum between midnight to 4AM. After a week of using this, it did its job and kept my skin from being dry specially during the winter season.

When I came back to Manila and everyone was raving about the Nuxe Dry Oil Huile Prodigieuse ($27). I bought myself one because, why not? It was just as amazing as the other two and leaves your skin soft and smooth. But unlike the other two, it’s dry oil so it doesn’t leave any greasy residue.

My skin right now is no where close to being dry, dull and flaky. I’ve learned from being a careless teenager. As for my go-to, I always go back to my handy coconut oil because it’s natural and easy to find wherever in the world I’m in.

Did you find the ‘best’ make-up artist? I’m assuming you were searching for the best Filipino make-up artist.

Well, there are a couple of great ones that we found but were still in the search or rather, we’re always curious as to who has some raw talent and who are the up and coming ones!
