14 Dec HAISRTYLIST SPOTLIGHT: RUDOLF DAVALOS
How did you start ?
I started as a trainee at Hairworks Salon, Makati in 2011. I had zero knowledge then. After 2 years working there, I applied to work for Lourd Ramos. It was through him that I was able to study techniques from Davines, L’Oréal and Schwarzkopf. Because of my background experience, I started getting hired to work on fashion shows, magazine shoots, TVCs etc.

What’s is the best hair advice you know to be true?
If attending an event or any occasion, don’t put or use conditioner on your scalp. It makes the hair go flat faster and the curl won’t last.
Favorite brands and why?
For me, I like using Bed Head products, especially their hairspray. It has a strong hold but if there is a need to change the hairstyle, it doesn’t leave a white residue on the hair unlike other brands.
Ms. Katrina Ponce Enrile and Sam Oh
Secrets you wouldn’t share with others?
I don’t have secrets. Whatever techniques or tricks I know or have learned, I teach it to other hair stylists.
Whose hair would you love to do?
Haha! That would be Kim Kardashian.
How do you keep up with new trends?
I research online, especially on social media. Almost everything you need to know is on the internet anyway.
What are the techniques from the past that you cannot live without?
A good blow dry is essential for a beautiful hairstyle. Always blow dry your hair properly.
