27 May HOW TO AVOID DAMAGE TO YOUR HAIR WHILE ON VACATION.
Part three of my summer series is essential. Most of us focus on making sure we don’t get sun burn or sunspots that we completely disregard our hair. Prolonged exposure to the sun can do some damage to our locks. It makes hair dry and brittle, leaves split ends and could even discolor your hair.
Here’s a little tip on what I do to care for my mane:
I bring both a brush and a comb to all my trips. I brush my hair out in the morning and I use the comb to detangle at night.
I usually don’t wet my hair in the morning so before stepping out into the sun, I make sure to spray hair and scalp sunscreen. I’ve been using the Beach Hut one for years and it helps.
I make sure my hair is a little damp and I put some leave-in conditioner when I know I’m going to jump into the water. The sun dries out our hair so I make sure to restore the moisture when I can.
When I shower after a whole day of sun, sea and sand, I make sure to put a bit of hair oil just to lock in more moisture.
Pro tip: my hair dresser always tells me to braid my hair or leave it in a bun to lessen any damage.
