We were able to catch up with the YouTube sensation, makeup guru and fellow Ilocano, Bretman Rock at his makeup masterclass held last December 18, in collaboration with online store MNL London. In true Bretman fashion, he brought the house down with his candidness and hilarity. It was so fun and we loved every minute of it!
At the exclusive event, the young makeup master showed his creative prowess by doing the makeup of teen star Ylona Garcia, taking his skills and holiday inspirations to create a bronzy, holiday-appropriate look for his muse. He did this all live on stage. His glam copper makeup was amazing, and we learned a thing or two from the Instagram star.
The Makeup Addicts sat down with the Tween Queen who’s slaying it in the beauty world.

When did you start using makeup?
The first makeup I ever put on my face was a MAC brown eyeliner pencil when I was in 5th grade. I shaved off half my brow… not shave; I plucked each and every brow!  I was trying to make that line (which was the trend then), but I freaking took out all of the hair and it looked horrible!
It’s funny because in 5th grade I was just stealing my mom’s MAC makeup, and at 12th grade, I’m a MAC makeup bitch! Haha! It’s such a funny world.

Who gives you inspiration in life?
Family, because they’ve been supporting me (through thick and thin). Even before I started makeup, they’ve always been so supportive. So when I’m doing my makeup, I always just think of who’s been there for me from the start.

Other benefits of being a social media star?
Besides the free makeup, I love meeting well established makeup artists and seeing how they started. It’s so cool, especially with the millennial generation, learning how older makeup artists grew and seeing how you may have grown in different ways as them.

Are you considering developing your own makeup lines?
Yes! I’d like to think of it as my retirement plan. I’m so busy now, but in the future for sure. I was trying to do my private line in Hawaii and carry it over here. I also have my own line of eyelashes, which I’m wearing now.
Also, I’m not allowed to say it just yet, but I’m working with a big brand now for a makeup collaboration. I can’t say who yet, but if it were to rhyme with anything, it rhymes with Pak!

As a makeup guru, who would you like to do?
Aside from Ylona – Beyonce and Anne Curtis most definitely!
