24 Jun REMINDER: EYEBROWS ARE SISTERS, NOT TWINS.
In an earlier post of mine, I mentioned my philosophy about brows which was if you take more than 5 minutes doing your brows, you’re doing it wrong.
Don’t stress if your eyebrows aren’t symmetrical because they weren’t meant to be. It’s more Elizabeth Olsen rather than MK and Ashley. Just embrace their differences and get on with doing your makeup!
The reason why I like the sculptors over pencils, pomades, powders and other brow products is because it’s so easy to use – it’s pretty idiot proof. The somewhat triangular shape allows you switch between thick and thin strokes depending on what part of your brows you’re working on. The thin end lets you create fine, hair-like strokes and using the wide end lets you create broad strokes to fill things in faster.
I also really love these products because it conveniently has a built in spoolie which makes it easy to brush through the process of filling in your brows.
The difference between my three favorites are:
- The Hourglass Arch Sculpting Pencil ($32) is a little waxier than the other two.
- The Anastasia Brow Definer ($23) is really pigmented so being light handed is key.
- The Tom Ford Brow Sculptor ($45) has a secret sharpener in it which is an extra plus!.
So here’s a look on how I do my brows:
First, I use a spoolie to brush the hair of my brows. I brush upwards then outwards. This helps you see the shape of your brows and also shows you where you need to fill in the most.
Second, I line the bottom of my brows with one stroke.
Then I do the same on the top.
I then fill out the outer corner of my brows and proceed to work inwards.
After filling in my brows, I go back with a spoolie to brush and smoothen out any harsh lines for a more natural look.
I use either MAC’s Girl Boy ($17) or Benefit’s Gimme Brow ($24) for my brow gel.
Before I put on any gel on my brows, I usually frown or squint so the hair kind of rises and you don’t end up putting too much product or having the gel stick to your skin.
