25 Apr THE LIQUID LIPSTICK LIFE
Okay so when I started writing this post, I was going to talk about how much I hated them buuuuuuuuut guess what? They grew on me.
They have been around for a few years now but they only seemed to have taken off the last couple of months and I’d like to say the Anastasia cult is to blame for its uprising.
Liquid lipsticks still aren’t my go-to lip products because of two things: 1. they really are so drying and 2. you don’t have a lot of room for error. You have milliseconds to clean up any mess you make but the upside is that just one coat is all you need and it’ll last you hours!
Because they are drying, I put either a wax based lip balm or a tiny drop of Aquaphor on my lips before I start my makeup routine. This prevents that cracked lip look that we all hate.
Out of all the liquid lipsticks I’ve tried, my favorite formulations are Jeffree Star, Kylie Lipkit and Jouer.
Jeffree Star’s formulation is a little on the sticky side. It’s lightweight but it doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to. When I finally got my hands on Kylie’s lipkit, I was so amazed by the formulation – it dried so fast but it felt like I didn’t have anything on. The only thing I noticed with the Kylie Lipkit is that it does oxidize a little so the color you begin with isn’t the color you end up with as the day goes on. The formulation of the Jouer liquid lipsticks are the best ones I’ve tried. I have no complaints about it so far and it really does last all day!
Since the temperatures are rising, I encourage you to give liquid lipsticks a try. Thanks to the polymer in the formulation, it won’t melt down on you. You can have your perfect opaque pout just like King Kylie.
I’d like to give a special thanks to @mupstore and @lipkitbykyliemnl for letting me get my hands on these amazing liquid lipsticks.
